MERPCon V was held the weekend of July 24-26, 2009 in Spokane, WA. This was the last convention held under the MERPCon name before it was rebranded to Tolkien Moot. This weekend also marked the first time that Hawke Robinson and co-host Michael Martinez did a live broadcast for Middle-earth Talk Radio.
Gathering before a packed in-house audience on Sunday, July 26, Hawke and Michael made Tolkien talk show history by broadcasting their hour-long session live across the Internet. But many fans have also enjoyed downloading or listening online to Middle-earth Talk Radio Episode 14.
The upcoming “Hobbit” movies provided much fodder for discussion but Hawke and Michael also found time to address J.R.R. Tolkien’s relationship with C.S. Lewis and also to answer the age-old question “Why didn’t Frodo just ride an Eagle (of the Misty Mountains) to Mordor?”
The co-hosts also accepted questions from the studio audience and from online listeners who posted questions via a chat room.
Middle-earth Talk Radio is a production of Middle-earth Radio.
